WESTFIELD,
IN – The Titans (6-3) finished their three-game series with the Warriors of
Rochester College (3-9) Sunday, winning both games in come back fashions. The
Titans won game 1 7-6 on a walk-off wild pitch and game 2 8-4 surged by a 5-run
bottom of the 8th.
The Titans
offense hit the ground running early in game 1 scoring 5 runs in the first two
innings. Senior RHP Trey Bickel (1-1) started the game for the Titans going 5.1
innings before being replaced by LHP Eric Calip. Bickel allowed 5 earned runs
on only 5 hits, however he was plagued by 6 walks, thus leading to his exit in
the 6th inning.
The Warriors
took the lead in the top of the 7th with Freshman Jordan Moore (1-1)
on the mound leaving the Titans in a do or die situation. In the bottom of the
7th IUSB got runners on thanks to some walks. With the bases loaded
Damon DeJesus grounded into a fielder’s choice tying the game up at six a
piece. In the very next at-bat Austin Thomas scored from third to win the game
on a wild pitch from the Warriors pitcher Mike Berlin.
The Titans
were led offensively by Damon DeJesus and Spencer McCool who each had two hits.
The Titans as a team accumulated 9 walks in game 1 as Rochester pitching
struggled for the second day in a row.
The Titan
bats fell silent in game 2 until the 8th inning when IUSB scored 5
runs to propel themselves past the Warriors 8-4
Junior RHP
Ben Wicklund (1-0) started the game for the Titans going 6 innings allowing 4
runs and only 2 earned runs. Wicklund struck out 8 before giving way to Tyler
Reece (1-1) for the remainder of the game. Reece got the win in his 3 innings
of work, allowing 3 hits and no runs.
Kevin Phelps
and Spencer McCool each went 2 for 3 in game 2, while Matt Miller added his
third home run of the season while going 2 for 5.

Warriors made 6 on the day.
