Titans Swept by Bees

By: ZANE GONZALEZ I @ZaneGonzo36 DAVENPORT, IA – The Titans (11-20, 4-10) traveled to Davenport, Iowa for a two-game conference series against the Saint Ambrose University Bees (12-21, 8-5). IUSB, coming off a long weekend of five games in three days, looked to get back in the win column as they dropped their previous two games against Judson University. The Titans dropped game one 2-7 in a game that was in arms reach for IUSB until a three-run sixth inning surged the Bees to victory. Game two saw the Titans lose their seventh one-run game by a score of 5-6. Sophomore RHP Tyler Reece (2-2) started game one for the Titans, throwing 5 innings in the seven-inning game. Reece allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, on 5 hits while walking 3. Freshman RHP John Ward entered the game in the sixth inning but couldn’t record an out as he allowed 3 earned runs on 2 hits. IUSB Takes Series from Olivet Nazarene

By: ZANE GONZALEZ I @ZaneGonzo36 LAKEVILLE, Ind. – The Titans (11-16, 4-6) were in search of a series sweep against Olivet Nazarene University (18-15, 7-5) on Saturday and hopes of reaching .500 in the CCAC. The Titans dropped game one in yet another one-run loss 4-5. But the Titans came back in game two of the doubleheader with a vengeance winning by one-run 9-8. Senior RHP Trey Bickel got the nod for the Titans in game one. Bickel threw 6 innings in the game allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, while striking out 12. Freshman John Ward pitched 1 inning in relief for the Titans allowing no hits, while striking out 2. The bats for the Titans were silent in the opener, as they were held hitless through 5.2 innings until senior Sammy Nieves had a pinch hit single in the sixth inning. Titans Break in New Home Field with A Win

By ZANE GONZALEZ I @ZaneGonzo36 LAKEVILLE, Ind. – On Wednesday, the Titans announced they were moving all their home games from School Field in South Bend to Newton Park in Lakeville. The move was forth coming as IUSB no longer must share a field with numerous local high schools. The Titans (10-15, 3-5) played their first game at the brand-new home field Friday evening against Olivet Nazarene University (17-14, 6-4). Early offense and a great pitching performance from Ben Wicklund led the Titans to a 5-1 victory. Junior RHP Ben Wicklund (2-1) took the mound for the Titans in search of his second win of the season. Wicklund gave head coach Mike Huling another solid outing going 6 innings, only allowing 1 run on 5 hits. Wicklund worked himself out of many tough jams as he walked 2 and hit 3 batters. Saint Francis Sweeps Titans

By: ZANE GONZALEZ I @ZaneGonzo36 JOLIET, Ill. – The Titans (9-15, 2-5) traveled to Joliet, Illinois looking to avoid a costly sweep against the University of Saint Francis (20-12, 5-1) Sunday, but couldn’t come out on top dropping their fifth game in a row in a 2-5 loss. The Saints took an early lead, scoring a run in the first inning. The game stayed a 0-1 battle until the fifth inning when the Titans fought back with 2 runs to take the lead for their first and last time of the day. After the Titans put up two runs the Saints answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The Titans would surrender two more runs in the game, one in the sixth and one in the eighth. Junior RHP Ben Wicklund started the game for IUSB, coming off a great start against St. Xavier. Titans Lose Fourth Game in A Row

By: ZANE GONZALEZ I @ZaneGonzo36 SOUTH BEND, Ind. -  The Titans (9-14, 2-4) faced conference opponent University of Saint Francis (19-12, 4-1) in the first two games of a three-game set between the two teams. IUSB lost both games, game one by a score of 6-11, and game two 4-5 marking the Titans fourth straight loss. Freshman RHP/C Jordan Moore (1-2) made his first start of the season for the Titans in game one, only lasting 2 innings before running into some trouble. Moore gave up 7 runs, 6 earned, in his 2+ innings of work, before being taken out and replaced by Junior LHP Zane Gonzalez. Gonzalez entered the game in the third inning with runners on first and second, but couldn’t strand them allowing both to score. Which extended Saint Francis’ lead to 4. Gonzalez completed the game out of the bullpen, throwing 5 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3. Offensively the Titans fought back all game, scoring 6 runs on 9 hits. IUSB was led by Senior
