By ZANE GONZALEZ I @ZaneGonzo36

LAKEVILLE, Ind. – On Wednesday, the Titans announced they were moving all their home games from School Field in South Bend to Newton Park in Lakeville. The move was forth coming as IUSB no longer must share a field with numerous local high schools.

The Titans (10-15, 3-5) played their first game at the brand-new home field Friday evening against Olivet Nazarene University (17-14, 6-4). Early offense and a great pitching performance from Ben Wicklund led the Titans to a 5-1 victory.

Junior RHP Ben Wicklund (2-1) took the mound for the Titans in search of his second win of the season. Wicklund gave head coach Mike Huling another solid outing going 6 innings, only allowing 1 run on 5 hits.

Wicklund worked himself out of many tough jams as he walked 2 and hit 3 batters.

Junior LHP Zane Gonzalez made his eighth appearance out of the bullpen for the Titans. Throwing the seventh and eighth innings. Gonzalez gave up no runs on no hits in his 2 innings of work.

Senior RHP Trey Bickel came in, in the ninth inning to shut the door for IUSB, giving up 0 runs on no hits while striking out 2.

The Titan offense came out swinging, scoring 5 runs in the first inning on 4 hits. IUSB would accumulate 10 hits in the game but didn’t score for the rest of the game.

Sophomore Austin Thomas was the only Titan to have a multi-hit game going 2 for 3 with an RBI. Junior Zack Lazenby and Senior Chris Mangus each added 2 RBI’s for the Titans in the victory.
The Titans stranded 5 runners on base after the first inning and 7 total in the game.

IUSB will complete the three-game series with Olivet Nazarene tomorrow in a doubleheader at Newton Park. The Titans are in search of moving to .500 in conference play with a sweep against Olivet.
