Bats Remain Hot as IUSB Beats Asbury 18-7

WILMORE, KY - The Titans traveled to Wilmore, KY to face Asbury University (5-5) in the first game of a three-game set. The bats for the Titans (2-2) were in full force once again, posting double digits for their second time this season and adding four more home runs making it 12 on the year as a team.

Senior RHP Trey Bickel got the start for IUSB going 6 innings allowing 7 runs, 6 earned and striking out 7. Tyler Reece took the ball for the 7th and 8th innings allowing no runs on 2 hits. Freshman Jordan Moore made his collegiate debut out of the bullpen closing the door for the Titans in the 9th.

The offense for the Titans got off to an early start scoring one in the 1st and five in the 3rd. The Titans were helped by some walks from the Eagles pitching staff as the Titans only had one hit despite scoring 6 runs in the first three innings.

Spencer McCool once again was firing on all cylinders at the plate going 4 for 5 with a home run (2) and 2 RBI’s. Chris Mangus went back to back with McCool tagging his second home run of the season well. Freshman Tanner Wesp and Senior Kevin Phelps also each added home runs for the Titans. With 12 home runs in their first 4 games the Titans are ranked number one in the country for Home Runs/Game with 3.

Another bright spot at the plate was Junior Zack Lazenby who went 4 for 5 with 2 RBI’s and 3 runs.


The Titans bounce back with a double header against Asbury University to complete the three-game series with the Eagles. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm and the Titans have Junior Kyle Rago scheduled to start game one.
