Titans Split Doubleheader to Win Series Against Asbury

By Zane Gonzalez I @ZaneGonzo36 WILMORE, KY – The Titans (3-3) wrapped up their three-game series with Asbury University (6-6), coming away with their first series win of the season. Titans took game 1 by a score of 6-4, but dropped game 2 in walk-off fashion to the Eagles 8-9. IUSB took advantage of nine errors from the Eagles defense in game 1 where only 3 of their 6 runs were earned runs. Zack Lazenby and Spencer McCool each had two hits for the Titans. Sparkplug Nick Kellams also picked up a pinch-hit single for IUSB. Junior RHP Kyle Rago (1-1) was extremely efficient on the mound for the Titans throwing a complete game allowing 4 runs, 1 earned, and walking none. Rago got ahead of batters and pitched to contact the whole game only striking out 2, while throwing 75 pitches. Bats Remain Hot as IUSB Beats Asbury 18-7

By Zane Gonzalez I @ZaneGonzo36 WILMORE, KY - The Titans traveled to Wilmore, KY to face Asbury University (5-5) in the first game of a three-game set. The bats for the Titans (2-2) were in full force once again, posting double digits for their second time this season and adding four more home runs making it 12 on the year as a team. Senior RHP Trey Bickel got the start for IUSB going 6 innings allowing 7 runs, 6 earned and striking out 7. Tyler Reece took the ball for the 7 th and 8 th innings allowing no runs on 2 hits. Freshman Jordan Moore made his collegiate debut out of the bullpen closing the door for the Titans in the 9 th . The offense for the Titans got off to an early start scoring one in the 1 st and five in the 3rd. The Titans were helped by some walks from the Eagles pitching staff as the Titans only had one hit despite scoring 6 runs in the first three innings. Titans Split Doubleheader With Trojans for First Win of 2017

By ZANE GONZALEZ UPLAND, IN – The Titans (1-2) squared off with Taylor University (5-5) for a doubleheader to complete the three-game series between the two teams.  Junior RHP Kyle Rago got the start for the Titans for game 1 of the doubleheader. The Titans struck first offensively scoring two runs in each the first and second innings. Senior Chris Mangus had a home run in the first inning for the Titans. The second inning was highlighted by a Tanner Wesp double and a Spencer McCool RBI single. The Trojans answered in the third inning with three runs of their own behind doubles by Josh Lane and Nathan Targgart. However, the Titans responded right back with three runs as well. The 5 th inning seemed to be the Titans kryptonite in game 1. In the bottom of the 5 th the Trojans strung together single after single off Rago for three runs, before being taken out of the game and being replaced by freshman LHP Andy Ross.
